To all GBR Pilots:
We appreciate the effort of all pilots based at Great Barrington Airport to contribute to our very good safety record. Because we have a mix of aircraft sharing the skies above the airport including: students in training aircraft, J-3 Cubs, twin and turboprop aircraft as well as helicopters; there is an added urgency for everyone to practice standard traffic pattern procedures and proper phraseology on the radio.
We recommend everyone review an Advisory Circular issued by the FAA in March 2018 (AC No. 90-66B). This AC calls attention to regulatory requirements, recommended operations, and communication procedures for operating at an airport without a control tower.
Some of the information in this document is highlighted in the attachment included with this email along with comments we’ve added that address our airport specifically. Please take the time to read both the attachment and the original Advisory Circular. Let’s all work together to fly safe in and around our airport! Thank you again.
Berkshire Aviation is proud to offer a fleet of rental aircraft for your training, travel, and recreational flying needs. Our aircraft are meticulously maintained by our own in-house maintenance shop. To rent you must have at least an airplane single engine land certificate, current medical, and be current in ASEL. For our Cubs you need to be at least a Sport Pilot with a tailwheel endorsement. Before any rental is allowed, a checkout by one of the instructors is necessary.
